An unbelievable – and embarrassing – thing just happened on the Temple Mount, in the heart of Israel’s capital city of Jerusalem. United States Congressmen David McKinley (R) of West Virginia and Scott Tipton (R) of Colorado along with their wives were visiting Judaism’s holiest site in the world, the Temple Mount, when they were detained by the police. Exactly what was their “crime” you might ask? Picking up a small olive twig from the ground! Yes, you read that correctly… One of the gentlemen picked up a twig! Did the honorable US representatives deface property or steal something? No, not at all. In fact, the twig was laying, half dead, on the ground when one of the congressmen innocently picked it up. He had no idea that this could become an international incident, sparking the need for a police investigation and detainment.
You see, the Islamic Waqf that was granted permission by Israel to “administer” the Temple Mount since the Six Day War in 1967, feels insulted when a non-Muslim does something – anything – that they may construe as religious in nature. Exactly what does that mean practically? Well, the Muslims demand that Israeli police arrest any non-Muslim that tries to pray, bow down or even move his lips in a way that appears to be a prayer. Jews, Christians, Buddhists, atheists and all other non-Muslims are forbidden from bringing religious or non-approved objects onto the Temple Mount. No prayer book, the Bible or even something mundane like an Israeli flag or a Christian cross is allowed to be carried onto the mountain according to the Waqf (and enforced by the Israeli police). The police conduct a full search of non-Muslims who want to enter the Temple Mount, including metal detectors, X-Rays of bags and insistence on removing absolutely everything that may be construed as religious. Prior to ascending the site, police read off the “rules” where they explain the long list of things a non-Muslim is not allowed to do. Of course, Muslims are allowed to do any and all of these things. Did you know that a Jew isn’t allowed to take a sip of water on the Temple Mount, for fear that he or she may say a blessing over it? Did you also know that Muslims – and all other faiths, for that matter – are permitted to pray and bring whatever they want (aside from weapons, of course) to the Kotel (Western Wailing Wall) and everywhere else in Israel?
Most troublesome is the fact that this whole process of entering the Temple Mount is not a really a security check to prevent terrorism. It’s a check to make sure that no one brings anything onto the Temple Mount that may insult the Islamic Waqf! Not only does this take place in Israel’s capital city, it takes place on the Temple Mount – the holiest place in the world for Jews and claimed as the third holiest place by Muslims. As has been shown in the past, even Muslims don’t actually believe in the holiness of the place and treat it with disgust on a regular basis. Did you know that Muslims pray with their behinds pointing to the Dome of the Rock that sits in the middle on the Temple Mount? Pictures of this are readily available all over the Internet. The pictures below show the disinterest in and neglected condition of the Temple Mount when it was under Muslim control for several hundred years.

The picture below shows the heaps of “garbage” that the Waqf has dug up and discarded all over the mountain… Yet, this “garbage” is actually rich in archeological proof of the first and second Holy Jewish Temples that stood on the Temple Mount over 2,000 years ago – long before the Muslim religion was ever founded. In fact, that debris holds treasures that prove Israel’s connection to Jerusalem centuries before Muhammad ever stepped foot in the city! Meanwhile, the Waqf continues to dig on the Temple Mount and destroy these national Israeli treasures without any oversight of archeologists. The Temple Mount Sifting Project was set up to try to sift through as much debris as possible once the Waqf dumps it in a landfill. That project has recovered unbelievable finds, such as coins, oil lamps and clay jars.

So, back to the US Congressmen and their horrific crime. As it turns out, the Waqf has arbitrarily decided that non-Muslims are not allowed to pick up a leaf or even a pebble from the Temple Mount. They have somehow convinced Israel’s Prime Minister and police that this is an insult to Islam and a crime! The congressmen and their guides tried to explain to the police that the congressmen were heading today for a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. It wasn’t until the police realized that they hadn’t detained “just another Israeli” that they released the US representatives. Do you think the irony was lost on the Waqf and police that this was all over an olive twig – the very symbol of peace?
And what about Muslims? They are allowed to enter and leave the Temple Mount freely without even so much as going through a metal detector. A few months ago, after several Muslim terrorists murdered an Israeli police officer from the Temple Mount complex, Israel set up metal detector checkpoints for the Muslims to enter. However, after their rioting and complaints, Israel inexplicably removed them – apparently to avoid insulting the Muslim population! This is the true apartheid in Jerusalem – where the Muslim Waqf bans Jews, Christians, Buddhists, atheists and anyone non-Muslim from the freedoms that are afforded to Muslims throughout Israel. It is a sad and embarrasing situation but it is essential that we share the TRUTH about Jerusalem and Israel. The congressmen will now discuss this horrific violation of their rights as free people and can explain to the world the truth about “apartheid” in Israel. They experienced, for a moment, what it is like to live under Muslim rule and what Jerusalem would look like if the “Palestinians” were to be given any part of Jerusalem. These congressional representatives of the US now have the truth available to explain why Israel needs to maintain full sovereignty over Jerusalem – Israel’s eternal, unified capital!
